|
Common Name: Dobson
Fly, Toe Biter.
Description: Large nymphs with a long
thin gray body and a jet black head featuring two large 'pincers'.
Each abdominal section has an obvious leg like appendage protruding
from it which is in fact a gill. These nmphs get quite large, up to #4 Hook
Size. Adults are around 2 to 3 inches long which huge clear wings,
probably best represented by any of the various cicada patterns. Adults
only become available to trout when blown back onto the wter as the nymph
leaves the river to hatch under a close by rock. Nymphs are available in a
range of sizes most of the season, although being strong they are able to
cling to the bottom in all but the stongest flows and only get dislodged
by flood events |
