A fishing licence is required to fish in fresh water in New Zealand. There are a variety of licences available as follows.

2003/2004 Season - October 1st 2003 to September 31st 2004

Adult Full Season -$86.00
Familly Licence -2 adults + Children under 20 $112
Week Licence - Any seven days  $34
48 Hour Licence - Any 48 hour period  $23
24 Hour Licence - Any 24 hour period  $17

There is no monthly Licence
There is no Longer a Tourist Licence
Minors can obtain licences at reduced rates

These licences cover you to catch any species at any location in the South Island of New Zealand, and at any location in the North Island with the exception of the Taupo District. (Central North Island).

One licence is required per angler, they are not transferable.
