New Zealand Dollar. NZ$ 100 cents to the dollar. |
| Customs Entry |
Flies and Fishing tackle (Clean) are ok, but Fly Tying Materials are sometimes confiscated. Good supplies of tying materials are available locally. |
| Transport |
New Zealand is not a highly developed country, the places you are going to want to fish are often not accessible by Public Transport. A vehicle of some description is essential to the enjoyment of a fishing trip to New Zealand. Also remember we drive on the left hand side of the road. |
| Pre-Booking |
If you are planning a trip between the second week of January and the last week of February I strongly advise you to pre book your accommodation, rental car and if you wish to use them guides. |
| Fishing Guides |
If this is your first trip to New Zealand I also strongly advise you to use the services of a professional fishing guide, if only for 1 day. The South Island of New Zealand is a unique and challenging fishery, those browns don't get big by being stupid! Experience in Montana or Alaska doesn't necessarily help you out here. |
